VDSL Testing

Are you connected to the new NBN Fibre-to-the-Node (FTTN) VDSL service in Perth? This is the version of NBN where your new modem plugs into your existing phone socket. Are you also having connection, speed or dropout problems with your internet connection? If yes, Aussie Cabling is currently offering a special VDSL cable testing service in Perth, for a fixed fee of $140. We will come out to your home or office and test your internal phone cabling to determine whether your internal phone cabling is causing these VDSL connection problems.

The reason people have problems is because (sorry, we are going to get a little technical now) the new VDSL2 modems simply send and receive data at the new faster speeds by using a higher frequency band. ADSL2+ allows for speeds of up to 24Mbps down and 1Mbps up using a frequency band of up to 1.1MHz. VDSL2 under perfect conditions will allow for speeds of up to 100Mbps both down and up and uses a frequency band of up to 35MHz. This frequency band has therefore increased from 1.1MHz to 35MHz. Cabling issues can be fatal to a VDSL2 signal, with even very minor ones causing a significant loss in VDSL speed.

If we find any problems adversely affecting the quality of your VDSL service we will advise you on what needs to be done and provide a quote for the repairs. In most situations we can just fix the problem for you on the spot. Most faults are normally easy to find and easy to fix.
